This course is specifically for Drawing and Talking Practitioners and professionals who work with children and adults in a one-to-one therapeutic capacity.

Designed by Lynn Findlay, who is a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, working with adults and young people. She is a registered social worker with over 20 years of experience working in safeguarding, as well as many years of experience designing and delivering training sessions in social care and therapy.  

What will I learn? The session covers:

  1. An understanding of what is safeguarding and your role
  2. The legislative and statutory framework which promotes and safeguards a child’s  and adult’s welfare
  3. An overview of the types of harm and abuse in children and adults
  4. The role of the therapeutic practitioner within this framework, exploring issues of confidentiality, therapeutic agreements and decision making.
  5. Guidance on recording and reporting concerns
  6. Signposting -what next.

How is it delivered? This is currently via Zoom, with information sharing, whole group discussion, and opportunities for questions and personal reflection.
